Atlas of a Lost World: Travels in Ice Age America by Craig Childs

4.0

A fascinating story of when and how the first people came to be in the Americas. Brings together so much research with personal tales of searching for how we came to be here. It really will make you look at the landscape much differently. A wonderful read.

"In Native tales from the Northwest, Raven the trickster-god is said to have been walking along the beach one day when he found the first people inside a sealed clamshell washed up from who know where.

"From the dark hold emerged the first people, naked and excited. Raven stepped back as they scampered away, the prints of their grape-sized toes heading off in all directions. The world would never be the same."
