Do not expect this book to be a Nutcracker retelling. It is not. This is the life story of Drosselmeir. AKA The guy that creates the Nutcracker and gives it to Klara Stahlbaum. It is a good story as long as you leave preconceived ideas about what you are getting into aside. I enjoyed it once I was over my own notion of what I thought I was going to read.
