Am I Normal Yet?
by Holly Bourne
The narrator of this book was just *chefs kiss*. She was so good, I immediately looked up her name and added all of the other books she’d narrated to my audiobook list. It definitely added to my overall enjoyment of this book.
This was a fab coming of age story, following Evie. It was a great representation and insight into mental illness and OCD, whilst also balancing the everyday life of a teenage girl. Making friends, navigating around boyfriends, doing ‘normal’ teenage girl things. It was really easy to listen to and I finished it quickly and when I went to find if there was more to follow it up, I was surprised to find there was! I’d really thought this was a standalone so I was glad that this is a series. Yay for the Spinster girls!
It does come with trigger warnings though of mental illness, medication, an in depth look into the mind of someone with OCD. It was a great insight as to her thoughts and perceptions and a sneak peek into her mind when she’s struggling to wrangle with her inner demons. I really did feel for Evie’s character and I was completely rooting for her every step of the way.
Excited for the next one!
