Only the second NR book I've ever read that folds a trilogy of romances into a single book, obviously due to plot constraints (I think any attempt to separate it in three would have resulted in two very unsatisfying endings). I felt that the story was well executed but that the premise was lacking... it didn't fit neatly into a "this is a world with magic" nor realism. Nonetheless the enemy was properly fleshed out and satisfyingly dispatched, something I am very sensitive to in the light of having just read four Steve Alten books where the human victims were unsatisfying and annoying.
