Every Part of You: Denies Me by Megan Hart

3.0

Quick review for a quick read. I'm...a little on the fence about this part. Good details into Simone and Elliot's respective pasts, which was something I appreciated the eye into once it was provided. Molly took care of Elliot like his mother never could, and he visited her in the resting home where she stayed. Simone goes on a "first date" with Elliot, and it builds upon their respective rapport - I liked that as well. I felt, however, that some of the progression of conflict in the latter part of the novella felt a little too quick in terms of its pacing. Not enough expansion. I understood the rationale behind it - what with Elliot dealing with a figure in his past returning in his life, and the pain of it making him distance himself from Simone, but it left me frustrated in both an intentional and unintentional way - intentional because it made me annoyed (like Simone) that he would just cut her off like that. Unintentional because it felt like it moved so fast with the emotional pacing that it threw me out of the story for a bit.

Nonetheless, this ends on a rather jarring note for both Elliot and Simone's respective relationship. Definitely checking into the next part, but this left me wanting a little more from it.

Overall score: 3/5 stars
