Queen of Myth and Monsters
by Scarlett St. Clair
I was really excited to read this one because the first book was AMAZING, and while this one was fine, the real standout was the last third of the book. I found that the middle got boring and repetitive for me (steamy I&A scenes, betrayal, killing, I&A fight, steamy scene, etc etc). I honestly got irritated by Isolde a bit because she was being just… selfish? Dramatic? Nothing major to turn me off of her but just got bad vibes from her.
The last third picked up and brought some interesting betrayal and twists to light. There were a couple story lines I wanted fleshed out more because they didn’t feel complete or felt pointless without more detail (E.g., how much of a role the aufhockers ended up playing, who the heck Solaris really is, more details about Isolde’s change, etc.). Definitely looking forward to the next book to (hopefully) tie up some loose ends and firmly plant me back in Isolde’s corner.
