Interesting, and some of the linguistic aspects, like “thought-terminating cliches” definitely add something new to the popular conception of cults.
But it’s too scattered and poorly researched, and I think writing about the mechanics of cults while assuming all spirituality is bogus is just unproductive, since the pull the idea/experience of the supernatural has on cult members (in my opinion) is much stronger than the author seems to assume.
The ending says we should all “believe a little bit in a lot of things” and never go all in which I just fundamentally disagree with
