The Song of Achilles
by Madeline Miller
I don't know what to say. Madeline Miller has this way of writing that just really touches my heart. The start to the end, the way Patroclus and Achilles changed from children to adults. It was an artistic masterpiece, every chapter. And the last 50 pages, I don't know, but it was the first book I've ever cried to and that counts as something. The ending. "I am made of memories," and "Name one hero who was happy," Patroclus didn't stay to his promise, damn it. What did Hector ever do to me, if only Achilles knew. I don't know how to recover from this book. It's definitely my favourite from all the books I've read. It will take me a while to recover, because everytime I remember the ending, I just feel this thick feeling in my neck down to my stomach. Well done, Madeline. This book was a masterpiece, I thank you for it.
Although I do not appreciate the fact that it made me cry and I can't stop thinking about it. Achilles, Patroclus, everything. I'm gonna cry again and again thinking about this. But yet again.
Thank you.
