I really liked the leads's energy and the chemistry between them. BUT, there are some issues with this book that we NEED to acknowledge.
Firstly, there is miscommunication. Actually, not even miscommunication. It's literally two damn fucking irrational adults being stupid because they are not able to accept that PEOPLE ARE NOT WHAT WE ASSUME OF THEM. They kept making these assumptions about the other the whole fucking time. But that's not the worst, the worst is that they used those beliefs as an excuse to treat each other poorly and to use certain arguments during their quarrels. WE GET IT, OKAY? Owen is rich as fuck. He knows, she knows, WE KNOW. Stop using that argument as a way to hate him. And then when they need to talk and figure things out, they just lay back and let time pass as if some kind of divine force will be fixing the things for them. Jesus, just sit down and HAVE A FUCKING CONVERSATION instead of hooking up every time. Victoria, let the man talk. Owen, talk.
Secondly, Victoria has a preoccupying issue with budgeting and she should seek actual mental help. It's not a joke. The moment in which you're not able to make the decisions that would make you happy because you think you might end up having to sleep under a bridge for the rest of your life, is worrying. Please, Victoria, seek help. And maybe stop hating on people because they were born rich?
Thirdly, why is literally nobody talking about the 27-age gap between Ashley and Owen's dad. Because the worst is not the age gap, the worst is that SHE WAS HIS SON'S HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATE. So you're telling me you went to your son's high school activities and fell in love with the 17-year old cheerleader? At 44 years old, more or less. I'm not saying this actually happened, I'm just using this example because IT'S MESSED UP. I know they didn't have anything when she was underage, but still. You met this girl when she was underage, and then fell in love when she wasn't. BUT THE 27-AGE DIFFERENCE IS STILL THERE (?). I don't know if I'm just being dramatic. Please, someone tell I'm not being dramatic.
Lastly, I felt that the way all the fault was put on Owen's shoulders was kind of unfair to him. Sure, he should've talked things out instead of thinking with his dick. But both of them presumed things about the other.
Also, funny how Victoria says she can talk with Luke with freedom because he doesn't know her true identity. But, then again, she cannot talk with actual freedom because she has to hid details about her life and herself.
