This may be one of the most accessible works in translation I’ve read in a while. The voice is gripping, short chapters and the story beyond engaging. Based on the true story of Franca Viola in the 1960s, this addresses the outdated reality of Italian girls who were not allowed a decision in marriage, for whom “no” was not allowed in their vocabulary. Absolutely excellent and I highly recommend for anyone who wants to dip their toe in WIT.
(I ALSO STAN OLIVA’S DAD!!!! WHAT A HIMBO)
