It’s embarrassing for me to say that this is technically the second book I’ve read this year. (The first book i read was the Elements of Indigenous Style by Gregory Younging. I read it for my Writer’s Craft course). This was my first “for fun” book of the year. I got VERY busy with school, but I graduate next Wednesday!!! 👩🏼🎓🎓🥂
I got this book for Christmas last year and started reading it shortly after Christmas. it took me six months to finish it because school was so demanding. But I am SO happy I wished for it and was so determined to finish it.
I’m not really one for self-help books, but this one was phenomenal. it flows very well and the short essays make it easy to binge read. I read 100 pages in the hot sun today to finish it!!
I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone in their 20s who are potentially in a transition period in their lives like me.
some essays that resonated with me:
“how to measure a good life”
“why does a soul want a body?”
“50 people on the most liberating thought they’ve ever had”
“you’re only in your 20s - it’s not too late to completely start over”
“what people who have lost love know”
“simplicity”
“18 little reminders for anyone who feels like they don’t know what they’re doing with their life”
“10 questions to ask yourself when you don’t know where your life should go next”
“what you find in solitude”
“let yourself be happier than you think you deserve”
“the very important reason why we choose to love people who cannot love us back”
“you have to be kindest to yourself when it seems least deserved”
“101 things that are more important than what your body looks like”
