Wonder by R.J. Palacio

4.0

Wonder is a lovely story of August - but we're thrown into several different bodies/perspectives on order to tell his tale. It is an emotional story of a boy whose face alarms people with how it looks. It shows us how kids can be the greatest people in the world and also the worst - and we get to see that in several ways which is, as a teacher, a great thing. The ending is a heartfelt moment that can feel a bit too heavy on the saccharine but it makes sense in the context of character, plot, and arcs of the cast. I'll read it again and certainly keep it on my book shelf.
