i found the prose to be extremely beautiful and quite poetic, which was a bit surprising. However i often got lost in the story and didn’t understand what was happening, especially in the first quarter of the story, where it seemed that the book is trying to be everything at once but then ultimately becomes nothing at all. the english was also incredibly challenging but it fit the themes of the book.

i found sally to be the most interesting character. how her opinions on the society of the time were quite modern compared to our times. she also contributed a lot to the character development of the protagonist.

overall i would say that mrs dalloway is a great introduction to virginia woolf’s writing and style
