"His scar had not pained him for nineteen years. All was well."

Well, folks, I finally finished my re-read of the Harry Potter series. I can definitely say that I've benefitted from this re-read. It has been seven years since I read these for the first time, and I've gained a fresh perspective. Such as: JKR sucks. Cho Chang was an amazing character who deserved better treatment from the narrative.

One thing I didn't like about this book was how slow it was. There were parts I felt could have been eliminated entirely without a hitch. For example, almost every action at Bill and Fleur's cottage was described when it could have been summarized. I felt that it could have cut to Gringott's a lot faster without over-explaining everything they were doing. Nevertheless I still really enjoyed the book.

I will literally never understand why on earth Harry decided to name his son after Dumbledore and Snape. Especially Snape. My God, the pensive memories didn't change anything except reveal he was working for Dumbledore the whole time. He was only doing it for Lily, never Harry. Dumbledore pointed out that Snape only wanted to get Lily out of the house and leave James and Harry to die. Dumbledore said, "Don't tell me you've grown to care for the boy," to which Snape replied, "For him?" and produced his patronus, revealing again that he only cared about Lily. He ripped up Lily's letter to Sirius and took the part bearing her love that wasn't meant for him. He tore up the photo of the Potters and kept the portion of Lily, discarding the part with James and Harry on the floor. If I saw some grown-ass man doing that about my mother, I would have been absolutely revolted. I was revolted on behalf of Lily. She made her feelings toward him perfectly clear and he refused to listen. Not to mention he literally bullied Harry, even when he was as young as eleven.

What about Remus as the name of his son? Remus Colin, after the boy who idolized him and snuck back into Hogwarts while underage to fight. Or Remus Alastor, after the notorious Auror who lost his life protecting Harry? Or naming him after Neville, especially since he named his daughter after Luna? Literally anything else would have made sense other than Albus Severus. I will die on this hill.
