Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
4.0
"You know the problem with heroes and saints, Nikolai?” I asked as I closed the book’s cover and headed for the door. “They always end up dead.”
The second book hooked me more than the first one did. Alina and Mal are getting in all sorts of sticky situations. There relationship hits some natural struggles. The situation is making it impossible for them to be together. Alina can't turn her back on her powers, she is the only one that can end the Darkling and the Fold. But Mal can't be with her because he just doesn't fit and it puts a target on his back. I love Nikolai, I'm a sucker for sass and swagger. This series was already enjoyable and entertaining, but Nikolai just made it better for me. The side characters add depth and some of them are so loveable, I'm taking about you David. After reading this I'm ready for the finale.
