Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power

slow-paced

3.0

The mystery of the story had me intrigued and got me through the second half of the book.  The first half was slow.  Margot has a bad relationship with her mother and doesn't know anyone else in her family.  This gets established over and over again through Margots inner dialogue and their interactions.  Most irritatingly, it slowed down the plot.  Margot eventually reconnects with her grandmother who seems warmer than the mother, but again doesn't communicate suffocating the plot moving forward.  As we learn more about the mystery being revealed, their actions make somewhat more sense.  Outside characters like Tess and the Policeman seemed more a means to an end, and I wish they integrated more into the overall story.
