Brother by Ania Ahlborn
4.0

Serial killers aren't normally my speed and they're the focus of this novel, which means I can't really say I enjoyed the story, but I definitely appreciate Ahlborn's ability to keep me engaged with the story from beginning to end. Brother works exceptionally well as a character study; although I wouldn't recommend it for people who are looking for either likable or empathetic characters. Just about everyone in this story is a terrible human being with few, if any, redeeming qualities, but you're reading horror, so you know ... manage those expectations.

I recommend this one for fans of movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or if you've seen the movie Chained, which the author mentions in her afterword.

If you're looking for a dark read with characters who stay with you long after you put down the book, Brothers is for you. You'll definitely want to sleep with the lights on ... and stay out of West Virginia.
