A Court This Cruel & Lovely by Stacia Stark

“Don’t survive for anyone else. Survive for yourself. Survive because the thought of not surviving, the thought of letting those who would hurt you win, is so repulsive, you can’t stand it. Survive because you deserve to survive.”

At first, I really wanted to give up on this book. The first half felt confusing — I couldn’t see the plot, and I had no idea what was actually happening.

But then… I completely fell in love with Lorian and Prisca’s growing relationship. Their connection was charming, sweet, funny — full of that perfect enemies-to-lovers tension.

I also really liked the cadre. Watching them help Prisca grow stronger, teaching her to harness her power, and seeing them slowly warm up to her was one of my favorite parts of the story.

“One day soon, you will have to make a choice. Be a torch for just one soul in the dark…or burn like the sun for all of them.”

There are still so many secrets out there, and I honestly can’t wait to uncover them.

As for the Friend? I just had a bad feeling about her — something deep down told me not to trust her.

And the Queen… is it just me, or does something feel seriously wrong and weird about her?
