Sometimes You Fall: Carrington Cove Book 3 by Harlow James

5.0

I don't ever want to leave Carrington Cove. These couples, family, and friends are so special and Harlow James delivers an incredible story every single time. Not only does she gift us a book you don't want to put down, but she always chooses the perfect narrators to tell the story. Sebastian York was pure perfection as our all in cinnamon roll hero Grady, and Samantha Brentmoor never disappoints. She told Scottie's side so beautifully.

Grady and Scottie were best friends in high school, each harboring feelings that the other didn't know about and that they never acted on. When they go off to college and start the next phase of their lives, they eventually lose touch, but neither of them ever forgot about the other.

Years later Grady is back home in Carrington Cove, building a different life after his MLB career ended. He's at a crossroads of sorts when he runs into Scottie at a bar one random night. After not seeing each other for 17 years, their connection reignites instantly and they finally make the moves that neither of them did in the past. They share a night full of untamed passion, only for Grady to wake up to Scottie running away without a word.

Scottie has deep rooted trauma and hurt from her ex that has affected her to her core. Months after her steamy, life changing night with Grady, Scottie packs up her teenage son, Chase, and heads home to Carrington Cove. Of course life takes her on a detour she never saw coming, but could very well be the best thing that ever happened to her.

The connection Grady and Scottie had in the past, and continue to share in the present is undeniable. After Scottie's surprise is announced, Grady sees the life and future he wants and will stop at nothing to win the game and have Scottie and the family he wants with her by his side forever.

Grady is so incredibly patient and understanding with Scottie, trying to let her see and accept the end game on her own. The bond Grady forms with Chase after the garage incident, and subsequently coaching his baseball team plays a big role in Scottie coming around. When she finally sees and understands how Grady loves her and her son, she stood no chance at resisting this man any longer.

Grady and Scottie's story is one of patience, love, understanding and building the life you want with those you love. I really enjoyed catching up with Dallas & Willow and Penn & Astrid and seeing where their lives are heading. The role Astrid played in getting Scottie and Grady together, and the friendship she and Scottie formed was particularly heartwarming after the journey Astrid went through to her own HEA.

This is an absolute must read and listen!
