A Duty to the Dead by Charles Todd

4.0

A Duty to the Dead by Charles Todd was a very enjoyable read. I've had this author on my to be read list for a while and finally got the first book in the Bess Crawford series. For anyone who loves a historical mystery with a strong female lead then this book is for you. It's set in WWI and the main character is a nurse who has been entrusted to deliver a message back to the family of a dying soldier. Her visit to the family ends up reopening painful family secrets and of course leads to a few dead bodies.
