I love Susan Orleans writing, especially the Orchid Thief. It's not a hard sell to get book lovers to read a book about a library. My problem with the book it seems more like a good magazine article than a book length story. There are many digressions about Los Angeles history and book burning in general that probably should have been edited out because they seem to have a tenuous relationship to the LA library fire. I did find the protagonist Harry an interesting study of a borderline personality disorder.
