The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

lighthearted slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

3.0

After a promising start, this book ended at a very middle of the road 3 star rating.
Things I liked: the set-up of the plot, main character Stella and the autism rep, and all the bits with Michael’s family.
Things I didn’t liked that much: I thought the plot was very thin, and the ratio of plot vs smut could have been balanced better. There were several times where a scene or conversation was just getting good or about to dive into something deeper and they just ended up in bed again. I didn’t mind the smut scenes but I had expected more from this story.
I’m reading this series for a readalong, so I will pick up the next one. Hopefully that one will hit the mark more for me.
