An amazing sequel to The Poppy Wars. I personally loved this book more than the first as it was so much more immersive and really had me at the edge of my seat. This book has some of, if not the most, complex characters I have ever seen. It truly makes you question whose side you should be on, or if you should even bother trying to decipher just how many sides there are. That’s something that I really love to see in books.
The book also goes into real life history and politics that was truly fascinating to read about. I won’t spoil anything, but just remember that almost everything you read in this book had actually happened, which makes it even more sad and frustrating to see.
I can’t speak enough praise about this series and I highly recommend it. Can’t wait to read the last book of the trilogy when it’s released in paperback!
