Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman

5.0

This was a really beautifully written book. It gave me some serious Ian McEwan vibes; examining the intricacies of thought processes and emotions, and exploring the intense subtleties and nuances of relationships and how they are explored and how they impact on us and our identities.

The second half felt a little meandering, and a little frustrating to read about the constant change in emotion between the two of them trying to pursue one another, then trying to avoid one another. But then it quickly seemed to veer back onto the track.

I had also read that this was a sad book, so I was expecting death to occur somewhere along the lines. But as I got through it, I found myself thinking that it wasn't going to be sad at all. But then as I reached the last 20 pages I felt my soul being quietly crushed just a tiny bit.

All in all, a lovely little book about passion, exploration, and identity, with a pretty heartbreaking finale.
