The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth
2.0
I was super excited to read this book and I was disappointed. The fact that it was set in a different setting made me select the duology and honestly I loved and enjoyed the first book. I even rated Carve the Mark with 5 stars!
The Fates Divided was a very slow read. There were times I felt like stop reading and pick another book. The storyline was complicated. It takes time and thinking to realize what is actually happening. Too many personal stories were narrated which made the story less interesting and more complex.
I hated reading the parts where Cisi and Isae were involved. May be personally I never liked such numb characters. Eijeh wasn't pleasant as well. Sifa was being very official leaving aside her duties towards her family starting from abandoning her family in a very very crucial point. Except for Akos, Cyra, Teka and Akos's rescue team, the other characters didn't have much involvement in the story. Though they had important roles to play throughout the story, I felt like those characters stood numb towards feelings. Most of the characters were lethargic I'd say.
The book got a little interesting after they learnt their actual fates and identities. The end was a happy one. But still I felt lazy while reading the last part too. Not up to the expectations. Being a fan of Roth, and a lover of The Divergent Series I'm not satisfied with the way this duology ended.
