How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water by Angie Cruz
4.0
I’m rounding up to 4 stars. I listened to the audiobook, and the reader is fantastic. The things I liked best were the single-point of view and the balance of humor, sadness, joy and tension in the storytelling. People are complicated, they’re smart in different ways, and they don’t always see their mistakes-the book gets this right. I worry that some people will think this is mocking immigrants, but I think I’m probably just worried given some of the anti-immigrant sentiment in my country right now. I think it is a sensitive portrayal without making the main character into a saint.
