The Grip of It by Jac Jemc

Love a haunted house book, especially when then house plays a role as a character. Enjoyed the underlying commentary about late stage capitalism and homeownership, as well as the relationship narrative. Parts were genuinely creepy. What didn’t work for me was the flat prose. It felt very “he said this, I did this.” The world building wasn’t there for me. Also a little confused about the Rolf storyline. Overall it was a little too ambitious feeling, but still delivered on the haunted house story I wanted.
