The Husky and His White Cat Shizun [二哈和他的白猫师尊] by Rou Bao Bu Chi Rou
2.0
I wanted to push through because I heard there are interesting twists but here we are: I absolutely lost interest in this book and never think about it anymore.
This book is slow. Very slow and (in my opinion) not in a good way. It seems we are reading relevant relationship scenes twice, once from Mo Ran's perspective and once from Chu Wanning's perspective. This is an intentionally frustrating reading experience, but intend doesn't necessarily make it more exciting to read. (that will, of course, depend on your personal taste)
I also thought that the translation wasn't well-written, though that shouldn't be weighted too heavily - it is done by fans for free after all. Still, whenever a new chapter came, there was also a sense of dread due to the story elements (paragraphs about chopsticks falling and picking them up) but also the unengaging writing.
Though I learned that I really enjoy traditional Chinese fantasy genres, I'm over webnovels. I still love the ideas people come up with when they aren't restricted by publishing houses, but every single webnovel has also shown me why editors are so important.
