I was so excited to read this book. So many promising reviews, a seemingly bad ass heroine, a broody and sexy vampire love interest, yet... it fell flat for me. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shot, maybe the beginning lagged and dragged a bit too long for my liking, but somewhere this book just didn't do it for me.

Things I did like were how quickly we were introduced to the world, the levels of vampires, and the abilities of the main female heroine. At first, her banter and wit were very intoxicating and even enjoyable (eventually, it got monotonous and try-hard). I liked the side characters and the way the human and fantasy worlds blended into each other.

Sometimes I like a slow burn romance, but this one made me wait far too long for very little payoff.

I would still recommend reading this book, but I probably wouldn't re-read and I didn't feel inclined to continue the series!
