Incredibly vivid setting, lovely writing. The young characters of Lizzie and Turner are well fleshed out and interesting; the older characters (especially the "villainous" ones) are less so. Unfortunately, this book was TOO realistic, and was thus too sad for my taste. It'd be a great read for those into realistic, historical fiction, though.
