A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams

1.0

I cannot express how much I hate every single character here.

Let's start with Blanche, I just can't stand her xenophobia and hate toward Slavs. The way she's not even relevant anymore because she's broke and has nothing on her name, but still has the audacity to talk ill of Stanley and his heritage because he's Polish. And then her driving her husband to suicide with her homophobic remark. And then sleeping with a student, a minor.

However, no matter how bad of a person she is, in no way did she deserve to get raped by Stanley. And he did that while his wife, her sister Stella, was in the hospital giving birth to their baby. I feel bad for Blanche in the end because, she has become so disillusioned with reality that even when speaking truth, no one believes her anymore. I feel terribly ill, her own sister didn't believe her that Stanley raped her, and only because she became a pathological liar.

Honestly, I wish i haven't read this because of how awful i have felt with the whole plot and the characters and everything.
