The Republic by Plato
5.0

foundational work of western philosophy, defines a lot of the core terminology and arguments. also interesting to approach it from a Christian perspective, as a lot of church fathers borrow language from Plato for theology. Plato makes some unusual and incorrect arguments but engaging with him in dialogue is the goal. his comparison of the well-ordered individual with the well-ordered state is comparable with the Orthodox understanding of icons, as the state is the image of the heavenly court of God along with the church and the family - a "fractal" nature to reality.
