The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

5.0

This reminds me why I love Suzanne Collins’ writing.

It’s been a while since Mockingjay and I had no idea what to expect with this, but it delivered and then some.

I really like seeing the contrast of the Games in their early stages of development and how much of an influence Snow wound up having. I think it’s also interesting to see the mentality of Capitol citizens so soon after the war and how it contrasts with the original series.

These characters are so well-written too. I never quite know how to categorize some of them because some are more explicitly in this for the glory than others.

This book just reaffirms my opinion that she needs to write more books in this world. I would love to see Games that certain victors won.
