A Fire in the Flesh
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Couldn't decide on 3 or 4 stars. Not much story progression. Actually, if I were rating purely on story progression, I'd say maybe 2 stars. But books are so much more than that. To me, the author is so good at immersion. The emotions described in the book were so powerful. But to be honest, the main thing that made me consider 3 stars heavily was the absolutely unnecessary never-ending spicy at the end. I ended up skimming/skipping so much of it that I ended up finishing the book about 2 chapters early. So much could have been said, but instead, they couldn't keep their hands off each other for more than a few sentences. I'm not against spicy, but there's a point where it's just getting in the way of the plot. Especially when it's just back to back spicy scenes. I can't wait to actually get to continue the story. Hopefully, the next book isn't just filler like this one. I do want to end with that I love this story, and the author constantly amazes me with her writing. This one was just not up to the standard I've come to expect.
