The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

Did not finish book. Stopped at 16%.
From the very beginning I really was not enjoying this book, but I attempted to suspend judgment for the first little bit. Unfortunately, after a few chapters I was finding the prose is very pedestrian, with what felt like most sentences following a "I verb the adjective noun" structure.

I had been hoping that the story would hook me and make the writing style more bearable, and was considering setting a deadline by which I would stop if I still wasn't getting into it. What made me put the book down for good was when the protagonist,
apparently the best criminal defence attorney in DC, answered a sheriff's questions about her husband, she just gave him information for free.
Now I'm not a lawyer, but from what I do know, this absolutely beggars belief, and I could not continue after that.
