Know My Name by Chanel Miller

5.0

It almost feels wrong to give this a star rating, even if that rating is 5/5, because it's so deeply personal. This is probably one of the best books I've ever read.

I had been putting this one off for a long time now because I knew how deeply this was going to impact me and while I wasn't wrong, I'm so glad I finally pushed myself to read it. The incredibly raw way Chanel expresses her experience as a sexual assault survivor resonated so clearly with me that I found myself having to take a minute to regain my composure at several points. I know for some, that sounds off-putting, but for me it felt necessary on both a personal level and in driving the impact of survivors' experiences home for those who fortunately can't relate.

I'd recommend the audiobook version, as she reads it herself, which makes it that much more impactful.
