Every Moment Matters: Savoring the Stuff of Life by Mehmet C. Oz, John St. Augustine
3.0
This book was really intriguing for awhile and is full of lots of inspirational tidbits. One of my favorites was him talking about his big hiking adventure and his analogy about his heavy pack being filled with other people's just-in-case items is like real life, when we allow other people to fill our minds with their stuff--beliefs, thoughts, norms, etc. Things we carry with us all our lives without every questioning it. I dunno, it was deep to me!
But it started to get a little too religious for my taste. He believes the "Jesus Man" cured his kidneys and that an almighty voice told him to go on the radio. Just seemed a bit too much for me, but I'm an atheist. If you're spiritual at all, you'll probably love all that. For me, I was into the book for stories about changing your own life, on looking internally to find the moments in your life to define you. Not some higher power defining you.
So, three stars for good, engaging writing and lots of inspirational tidbits. But personally it was a wash.
