Heartbeat by Danielle Steel

4.0

This was my first Danielle Steele book - my Mom has had all her books, but I never read one, surprisingly. Anyways, this book was good. As a mom now, I tend to read books involving family relationships a little differently, and this one made me cry at several points. The plot involves a man leaving his wife because she's pregnant and he never wanted kids. I hated him throughout the whole novel, so I definitely loved the other male character more. I found the main character, Adrian, a little annoying in how she dealt with her husband leaving and how she wanted him to be involved with her child's life. It was just so painful, but I'm glad the ending settled it all much better. The writing was good, yet predictable. I am looking forward to reading her other stories, in hopes that the plotlines are a little more creative and intriguing.
