Girl, Goddess, Queen by Bea Fitzgerald
4.0

what i loved the most about this being solely from persephone’s point of view is getting to read her inner monologue and seeing how truly unapologetic she is in all the best ways. she’s what you want to see in fantasy protagonist, especially when it’s a woman (or in this case a goddess) since they’re usually portrayed to be the characters who uphold the morals that people are expected to follow, despite it being a fantasy novel/series, and i loved it. Bea did a fantastic job immediately drawing in the readers with an incredible first chapter, i was hooked from the start and constantly trying to read as much as i could whenever i had a minute to spare. despite being very familiar with the myth of hades and persephone, i was still just as excited to read Bea’s depiction of the age-old story, anticipating the next chapter in regards to both the romance and the plot. fitzgerald’s hades was a characterisation i didn’t expect but came to really like. he’s young much like our persephone but even then we still get a character different but yet still familiar whenever i think of all the other interpretations of the god that i’ve read. his and persephone’s dynamic was so fun to read, all their shittalk and flirting was both funny and cute.
