A Kingdom of Ruin by K.F. Breene
3.0

If you’re a fan of the main characters getting back together quickly after being separated, this book is not going to be for you. It takes about 80% of this book for the couple to be reunited and it is a sllloooooowwww process!

A Kingdom of Ruin felt very similar to A Throne of Ruin in that it was very repetitive. There was no need for this book to be over 500 pages. The first 400 or so pages were a repetition of Finley getting whipped and put back into her cage to heal and Nyfain moping because he missed Finley but didn’t want her to return.

I understood the need for Finley to build relationships with the other dragons, the wolves, and the fairies but I feel like we got more story about her mistreatment than we did about her building relationships.

Once again, my favorite characters in this whole book were Hadriel and Leala and I was even more excited to see some chapters from their perspectives! Without those, I’m not sure I would have even given it 3 stars. Hadriel’s dialogue had me cracking up on more than one occasion - how in the world that happened in such a dire situation, who even knows!
