January First: A Child's Descent into Madness and Her Father's Struggle to Save Her by Michael Schofield
5.0
i finished this a while ago... actually the day i received it. i've just put off writing the review i've been so busy. i first had seen documentaries on tv about Jani and her family, so i immidetly was drawn to this book. this book went into so much more detail than what i had seen in all the documentaries. it saddened me so much to read on what they've gone through, and what they continue to go through every day. i love memoirs and read them constantly, im just drawn to other peoples stories and lives. even though Jani has Schizophrenia after reading about her, and seeing the documentaries she is a very bright and happy child despite her disorder. i sometimes think we are given tests on purpose not to hurt us, and the tests in life we are given isnt going to be too much for us to handle. i highly suggest everyone read this book. it will make you laugh, cry, and everything else in between. :)
