The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri
3.0
I went in with so much scepticism because I'd read the prologue before and the reminder of Sati with the religious zealotry of Chandra made me give up the book for a hot minute b/c I have mad religious trauma <3 Fun to see different historical references lmao like ok Raziya Sultan come thru. Mythological references too like the lacquer palace from Mahabharata etc. I had issues with the dialogues throughout the book which is why I'm not giving it a full five stars but I still would like to read the rest of the series so yay.
Edit (1 July 2024): Rating down to 3 bec honestly this book has been bothering me for a minute. While there are enjoyable elements that make me want to pick up book 2 there's still a lot of issues. Mainly, the relationship between Malini & Priya. It was kind of...boring. Which fucking sucks but what can you do.
