The Tommyknockers by Stephen King

4.0

I’m reading King in order and was nervous to start this one due to its horrible reputation but I (maybe because of the reputation) ended up loving it!

I mostly enjoyed the first part with Bobbi’s “becoming” and when Gard first sees her after the digging starred. Also, when we go through each and every townsperson’s own experience with “becoming,” I thought it was a lot of fun. The last part was the weakest but I think thought it was alright.

I also wish that Bobbi was the hero of the story other than the largely unlikeable Gard. I really don’t mind an unlikable protagonist, but I just feel like we learn so much more about Bobbi, and there are still holes in our knowledge of Gard. His wife? What happened there?
