Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren
3.0

In some ways Pippi is the poster-girl for White FeminismTM.

She's brash, outspoken, subverting gendered expectations, but often at the expense of others, usually people of color, who are exoticized in Pippi's tall-tales of foreign countries civilized ladies wouldn't dream of discussing. Make no mistake this is a form of racism, just a classy sort of racism.

I'm sure Pippi was a beacon of hope to young ladies of the distant past, however I'm glad to say that my (future) daughters will have a shelf of heroines at their disposal who don't have to stand on another's back to become taller/mightier.

Hey, you've come a long way, baby (well, maybe!)
