Duke of Pleasure by Elizabeth Hoyt
5.0

Let's be clear: This cover and this title have nothing to do with this book. This story is reverse-gender Batman meets My Fair Lady. It's a 1740s London crime novel with a solid romance plot line.

But back to the cover and title... I get that the publisher often picks the cover and title, so this really irks me because I know people who love this book but will take one look and think it's a troupe-filled bodice ripper. Nothing against those, but I know a whole potential audience that this novel is perfect for will not give it a chance. Yes, there is a Duke, but the "of pleasure" implies a very different plot than what is in this novel and I am getting irrationally angry about it.

I had a great time reading/listening. The narrator was very theatrical in a way that was effective and captivating. This novel is the 11th in the series but worked very well as a standalone. While I can guess who the previous book was about, it wasn't distracting at all.
