Some mixed feelings about this one!

I liked the story idea…for some reason I am really drawn to things set in a hotel so that was fun and interesting. It was a quick little thriller with some fun twists and turns and surprises.

The thing I felt kinda weird about was the way the main character was very obviously neurodivergent and this fact is never put into words… idk why but that felt sus to me! And she was such a stereotype that it kinda felt like the author just googled “characteristics of autism” and wrote them in based on what fit the plot. I’m not well-equipped to critique this kind of thing but I guess it just felt strange that no one came out and said it, and instead this character is just supposed to be ~a little kooky~. It’s whatever I guess but it just left me feeling some kinda way. I don’t think it was written maliciously but it was odd.
I also felt some kinda way about the fact that
Spoilerthe only character clearly written to be non-white and the neurodivergent girl were white-saviored by the doorman and his apparently high-profile lawyer daughter lmao

I’m mostly willing to forgive though because I ended up enjoying the characters and the story and really rooting for Molly the whole time. Sure some things were a little too convenient or wrapped up a little too nicely but it's ok. I’m almost definitely looking too much into this novel that was clearly intended to be a quick, fun little read so I’ll just enjoy it for what it is lol

And I’ve just read that they are making this into a movie with FLORENCE PUGH as the lead so I’ll be preparing myself to stan that when it comes out!
