Batman: Curse of the White Knight by Sean Murphy

5.0

This is a great second part to an already strong story. The art is immaculate. The pacing is decent and the story feels so full of depth without becoming overbearing.
After the sort of “out of the box” nature of the social commentary in the first part, I was a bit skeptical about how Batman could even continue. But Sean Murphy is leagues ahead of me and seemingly everyone else. With a purposeful while still complex plot, he dives head first into that exact question. Can Batman continue and if yes, how?
This book has a ton of fun callbacks to other stories which sharp eyed fans of the caped Crusader can certainly comb for like I definitely did. And the action feels gritty without crossing into full grim dark territory. It also resurrects a favorite side character of mine in Azrael and rewrites his backstory to fit this “murphyverse”
I loved this as a continuation of a new favorite storyline and it seems to be not even done yet which may be the most exciting part.
