Klara and the Sun
by Kazuo Ishiguro
A story about artificial intelligence that isn’t boring and played-out. In fact, it is the opposite: a poignant, touching narrative about what love is, how love is. I continue to be fond of the matter-of-factness Ishiguro’s writing always seems to possess; he doesn’t over-complicate or embellish, but tells the story as-is. Though futuristic, this story feels like it could happen to anyone, which I mainly attribute to how real and beautifully ordinary the characters are. So lovely!
