Vagina Obscura: An Anatomical Voyage by Rachel E. Gross

informative fast-paced

4.5

This book surpassed my expectations in terms of academic, historical, medical, and political study content. I believe it is commonly understood that misogyny has resulted in a host of harmful stereotypes and the persistence of unjust outcomes for women. I did not realize the extent of medical ignorance and lack of intellectual curiosity about female human anatomy! Gross goes into the intricacies of the pleasure gap, the medical gap, and the enduring attitudes that negatively affect women to this day. She handles the content with an inclusive spirit, naming trans woman as women and respecting a multiplicity of biological and social realities.
