I really love the podcast of the same name, and wanted to feel the same about the novel...but for the most part I really wasn't feeling this. Possibly if I'd listened to the audiobook it might have gone better, what with me missing hearing Cecil's voice in here.
It felt like there wasn't really enough plot to justify how long this ended up being. Plus, all the sly little jokes about how strange Night Vale is supposed to be really felt like it got in the way of things at times. It works great in the podcast, but so often it felt like maybe the plot would finally take off only to get bogged down in "Hey, remember how quirky Night Vale is? Let's remind you."
Definitely disappointing for me.
